This image represents the element of line because the objects within the image create the illusion of lines going through the image. The picture is successful is showing line since the railing seems one dimensional and vary from being horizontal, vertical, and diagonal. It also leads the observer around the image, following one side of the picture to the other. This picture of Color Guard expresses the element of color because it directly shows the hue of yellow. The value of this picture is lighter and the intensity of the color is low. This is a picture of the chain link fence at the basketball courts. This shows shape because the fence creates a diamond shape. This photo was taken when the soccer teams were practicing. This shows form since the shadows below the soccer ball give it that three dimensional look. I took this picture of my friend James. You can see the texture in his hair since it looks soft and bouncy. This is also a picture of my friend James. This shows space since the hat is the main subject and there is negative space around his hat. I took this picture of the trees next to the baseball stadium. This shows value since there is light around the tree and the shadow next to the tree as well.
I took the photographs under shutter speed priority. It was hard getting the shutter speed to the quickness that I wanted it to be at. The way to change the shutter speed was different than what I am used to so I had to ask the teacher for help.I learned that fast shutter speed is able to catch quick movement, the faster something moved, the more blurry it looked, and that fast shutter speed can make or break a photo. You can use fast shutter speed for things like sports, weddings, and animals in nature.
I used a photo of my friend’s shoes in order to show the importance of respecting where you are going. Many people don’t respect where they came from and then won’t appreciate where they end up. People usually just let life take them wherever and don’t want to do anything about it other than complain. As for me, I take charge of my future and take my life where I want to go. I have already let myself be pushed around by life and had just gone with the flow. Now I am taking charge of where to go.
Another perspective to my photo is respecting where you are at every moment in time. Somewhere else in the world, someone wishes they could have it as good as you do. Not everyone has free education or is even able to go to school at all. Many countries can’t even take pictures and edit it the way I did with this picture. The main message is to be grateful and humble with where you are and where you are going. The way which I took these pictures was on a tripod, in a dark room, in manual mode with manual focus. I had my partner stand within a certain area and pose in whatever way he wanted to pose in. I used the cellphone app MyLightPaint and some glow sticks to achieve the overall effect that I was looking for. I had struggled with getting the colors to show up and the timing with the picture. I learned how to manage the shutter speed, use the lighting to my advantage, and how to time movements in order to achieve the best look. Other ideas you can use light painting for is to draw pictures or make yourself into other things like an angel by adding wings or a halo.
